Even though GM makes no word of the Saturn brand in the press release, most of you will probably see the Vue hiding behind the Chevy bow-tie on the grille. SPY SHOTS: 2011 Chevrolet / Holden Captiva SUV with Aveo-esque Fascia


Chevrolet's European arm is moving along with the development of the facelifted Captiva that's due to go on sale on the other side of the Atlantic later this year. Judging by these spy photos, if not all, most changes appear to be concentrated on the SUV's redesigned front end that looks heavily influenced from the Aveo RS concept we saw at this year's Detroit show.

Details remain scarce for now, but it is possible that Chevy might also perform some upgrades to the 2011 Captiva's interior and mechanical hardware.

Chevrolet Europe Presents Special Edition Cruze Irmscher, Aveo Sport and Captiva Family

Chevrolet's European arm is expanding its German lineup with the introduction of three special edition packages for the Aveo supermini, Cruze sedan and Captiva SUV.

Priced at €1,990, the Sport package for the Aveo is available on both the 3- and 5-door models with the 1.2-liter and 1.4-liter engines. It adds a sport suspension that lowers the Aveo's ride height by 30mm, 15-inch black alloy wheels shod in 195/45 R15 tires, a stainless steel exhaust system and a roof spoiler.

The Cruze, which was revealed in U.S.-spec form at the Los Angeles Auto Show, is offered with a sport package developed by long-time GM tuner, Irmscher.

Available with either a 1.8-liter petrol unit that makes 141HP or a 2.0-liter diesel with 150HP, the kit is priced at €1,990 and it includes a lowered suspension, 18-inch alloys wrapped in 225/45 R18 rubber, stainless steel scuff plates, sport exhaust tips and Irmscher logos.

Finally, the Captiva Family Edition adds more standard equipment to the SUV including cruise control, parking sensors, air-conditioning, leather seats, steering wheel and gearbox knob and a higher grade audio system.

Prices for the Captiva Family Edition start from €26,590 for the petrol model and from €28,190 for the diesel.





Chevrolet Captiva MOONLANDER Limited Edition Model

So you're probably wondering what's the deal with Chevrolet's special edition Captiva SUV. Well, in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the first moon landing that occurred on July 20, 1969, Chevrolet Europe's official supplier of LPG systems, "Fahrmitgas" decided to launch a special version of the Opel Antara-based Captiva SUV dubbed MOONLANDER that will be produced in a limited run of 40 units.

Available exclusively in a white finish with black details, the Captiva MOONLANDER comes with numerous graphics inspired from the iconic Apollo 11 mission as well as mirror-like tints for the rear passenger and tailgate windows plus 20-inch alloy wheels in 245/20 tires and a lowering kit that drops the suspension by 35 millimeters.

The only modification in the interior concerns the addition of a special numbered plaque on the center console.

The Captiva MOONLANDER is available in Germany with two LPG capable powerplants, a 2.4-liter four-cylinder petrol with 136HP (FWD) and a 3.2-liter V6 petrol that makes 230HP (4WD). Prices start from €25,590.

For the record, the shiny spacesuits aren't included in the package but Fahrmitgas will throw in a mini-replica of an astronaut along with an iPod just to sweeten the deal.

Holden Introduces 2WD Captiva with 2.0L Turbo Diesel Engine

Holden CpativaWhile four-wheel-drive systems have their strong points, we all know that a great percentage of SUV buyers don’t actually need AWD for their everyday driving chores. With this in mind, GM’s Australian subsidiary Holden announced the launch of a new choice of two-wheel-drive, diesel powered Captiva models. Powered by the 2.0 litre turbo diesel engine found in the Captiva AWD range, the manual transmission 2WD model offers a fuel efficiency of 7.2 litres / 100km (32.6MPG US) while the automatic returns 8.5 litres / 100km (27.7MPG US). -Continued

The Holden Captiva diesel 2WD models are priced from $33,990 AUD for the five-speed manual transmission and $35,990 AUD for the five-speed automatic transmission - or $2,000 AUD less than their AWD equivalents. Additionally, Holden is offering free side steps and roof mounted DVD player to any private customer who purchases a Captiva SX, CX or LX by 31 October 2008 or while stocks last.

The 2WD Captiva SX with automatic transmission is on sale now, with the manual transmission variant scheduled to be in dealerships late September.

Chevrolet UK’s Mobile Punch & Judy Puppet Show

Chevrolet Punch and JudyChevrolet decided to take the British beaches this summer with yet another bizarre promotional tour, this time with the world’s first in-car Punch & Judy theatre. Punch and Judy is a traditional, English puppet show featuring the characters of Punch and his wife Judy.

According to Chevy, one in three children (37 per cent) says that they have never experienced the once popular show so the automaker took it upon itself to reintroduce the famous puppets to a new generation of kids by fitting a custom-made booth onto the side of a Captiva that will tour up and down the UK seaside this summer. -Thanks for the tip Sarah!



Chevrolet Captiva: New Entry Level Diesel Version

Chevy’s European arm is enhancing its UK line-up with the addition of a new entry-level diesel version of the Captiva SUV. Priced from £18,295, the new five-seater Captiva 2.0 VCDi LS is equipped with a 2.0-litre 150PS common-rail diesel engine powers the front wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox.

Standard equipment includes 16-inch alloy wheels, electrically-adjustable heated door mirrors, an eight-way adjustable driver’s seat, a six-speaker RDS radio/CD player with MP3 socket, steering-wheel mounted audio controls, front, side and curtain airbags, remote control two-stage deadlocking and charcoal-effect roof rails. -Continued




Holden Releases Captiva SUV 60th Anniversary Edition

General Motor’s Australian subsidiary Holden is continuing its 60th anniversary celebrations with the introduction of a special edition version Captiva SUV (rebadged version of the European Chevrolet Captiva). Based on the Captiva LX trim, the 60th Anniversary Special Edition gets a series of standard features.

These include 18-inch alloys, a 7-inch driver information display & in-dash DVD player, silver painted skid plate, fog lamp inserts, roof rails & door handles, new black bezel headlamps, new tail lamps, a new front fascia and special ‘60th anniversary’ rear badge. The Captiva 60th Anniversary Special Edition is on sale 1 May and is priced from $43,990 AUD for the petrol variant and $44,990 AUD for the diesel variant. –Image gallery after the jump






Chevrolet Captiva Edge Edition

For a limited period, Chevrolet’s UK arm is offering a limited edition ‘Edge’ version of the Captiva SUV with over £2,400 worth of extras free of charge. Based on the seven-seater 2.0 VCDi LT model, the Captiva Edge is priced at £19,995.

As well as the standard equipment featured in the Captiva LT, which includes ac, fog lamps, radio CD/MP3 Player, electronic stability control, power-operated door mirrors, electric windows, hill descent control and two-piece glass flip tailgate, the ‘Edge’ edition adds 20-inch Irmscher Evo Star alloy wheels and distinctive chrome side bars. -Continued

Additionally, those who order the Captiva Edge in the model’s distinctive launch colour of Zest Brown, a bold orangey-copper shade, will also get the metallic paint thrown in without cost.

2008 Chevrolet Captiva Sport

Chevrolet Europe has enriched the Captiva’s line-up with a brand new sport version that will be available with a common-rail 150 HP 2.0L turbo diesel engine or, alternatively, the 227 HP 3.2-liter V6 engine. The compact SUV’s exterior appearance has been enhanced with a series of features like the trunk lid in body color, new 18” wheels, dark headlights, “smoked” rear lights, new exhaust pipe tips, new front bumper fascia, “Chaos Black” bumper and side molding finish, light Silver finish on rings around fog lights, door handles and roof rails. -Continued after the jump

The Captiva Sport’s cabin has also been enhanced with red and black leather interior, red stitching on the seats and the steering wheel and, black carbon interior accents.
