Renault Product Plan 2006-2009


Under the firm hands of top automotive executive Carlos Ghosn, Renault released it strategic plan, “Renault Commitment 2009”. Ghosn, who revived Nissan from its ashes when he took control of the Japanese company in 1999, is now looking in how to put Renault in the “Big 3” league (Toyota, GM & Ford).

Among others, Ghosn promised to raise Renault sales by at least 800.000 cars till 2009, without entering the US or China market (Renault is still searching how to find a way to do that, without having to do compromises with the Chinese government).

To do that, the French car company is going to release 26 models, of which 13 will expand the current range (SUV, Crossovers, Coupe, Cabrio’s and other niche models) with the other 13 will replace current models. Another significant point is that the replacing models will step up in terms of quality and “image”, in the way that the new supermini Clio did.
