Audi Presents Second Generation MMI
Audi’s next-generation Multi-Media Interface (MMI) technology will make its debut in the A8 luxury sedan, followed shortly by the A6 and the new Q5 SUV. While the basic operating principle has been retained, Audi has added a new 8-position joystick located on the central knob. For the new MMI, Audi has also provided a larger 7-inch TFT display with resolution of 800 x 480 pixels and LED backlighting. Other improvements include the 3D images for the navigation system and the new ‘main unit’ computer which is installed in the center console, and integrates all the functions that were previously performed by five separate units, including the DVD drive.
