Ford to present a new 1.6 Turbo petrol engine for Europe in 2008

It might have taken Ford a few years but they’ve finally decided to join the turbo-craze in Europe’s mainstream categories. According to an interview that Ford's head of development, Jens Ludmann, gave to German magazine Automobilwoche, the European side of FoMoCo is working on a new range of smaller capacity engines to meet demands for reduced CO2 output.

Citing inside sources Automobilewoche gets into details saying that Ford will present a 1.6 litre turbocharged engine that'll replace the current 2.0 and 2.3-liter petrol engines as soon as next year. Expect the turbocharged engine to be offered from the next gen Fiesta all the way up to the Galaxy MPV.
